Applications
Primarily for coated papers, art papers, posters, display boards, corrugated boards, wood, hardboard. NOT
suitable for cast papers and boards.
Recommendations made by Kromex are to help you match the ink to a particular job, our suggestions are to
assist you and do not amount to a guarantee - Never start a print run without first doing a test print and being
sure that the chosen ink matches your expectations.
Thinning
MicroFilm inks can be thinned using Thinner 427. For detail work and/or printing in hot conditions use
Retarder 405 as part or all of the thinner. MicroFilm is also thinnable with white spirit. MicroFilm inks can be
thinned up to 30%. If consistency needs to be retained, we recommend using up to 5% (but no more than 10% as this
may affect adhesion) of Gel Retarder 411.
Coverage
The coverage and opacity achieved with MicroFilm inks is greatly influenced by the amount of added
Thinner/Retarder, absorbency of the substrate and the amount of halftones/solids in the print. Using a 100 T
Mesh and thinning 25% an approximate coverage of 70 m2/ltr may be expected.
Drying
Drying is by solvent evaporation and is influenced by the thinner used and the temperature and velocity of the
air over the print. The process colours will take longer to dry.
Cleaning
We recommend any of the Kromex Screenwashes for cleaning Screens and equipment. Where Health &
Safety is foremost we advise the use of KromaFresh 106. A non hazardous, biodegradable screenwash that
has a citrus aroma, making the workplace a better place to be.
To remove any stains that may occur use KromaStain 540, a very efficient stain remover that will leave your
screens looking new again.
Health & Safety
We manufacture the full range of Microfilm inks to conform to EN71. We also have 9 Lead containing
alternatives available upon request. Refer to separate Health & Safety sheet.
