KROMASIGN
Applications
KromaSign will adhere to clean metal without the need for a primer. Some examples are steel, aluminium, brass, zinc and
even glass! To obtain maximum performance the prints must be stoved to obtain total hardness and adhesion. Ensure that
the substrate has been degreased and remove any surface oxide, failure to do so may impair the inks performance.
KromaSign will also adhere to PETG, PVCs, Polyesters and Acrylics.
Recommendations made by Kromex are to help you match the ink to a particular job, our suggestions are to assist you
and do not amount to a guarantee - Never start a print run without first doing a test print and being sure that the chosen
ink matches your expectations.
Thinning
KromaSign inks should be thinned using Thinner 431. For detail work use Retarder 432 as part or all of the thinner.
KromaSign inks can be thinned up to 30%.. If consistency needs to be retained, we recommend using up to 5% (but no
more than 10% as this may affect adhesion) of Gel Retarder 411.
Coverage
The coverage and opacity achieved with KromaSign inks is greatly influenced by the amount of added Thinner/Retarder
and the choice of mesh. Using a 90T Mesh and thinning 25% an approximate coverage of 50 m2/litre may be expected.
Drying
Drying is by solvent evaporation and is influenced by the thinner used and the temperature and velocity of the air over the
print during the stoving. The stoving schedule is 20 minutes @ 160°C. This ensures you will get the maximum
performance from the ink. When vacuum forming KromaSign, allow the print to be touch dry, then form. The heat
required in vacuum forming totally dries the ink and no further stoving is required.
Cleaning
We recommend that you use Screenwash 101 or Screenwash Extra 103 for cleaning up. Where Health & Safety is
foremost we advise the use of KromaFresh 106. A non hazardous, biodegradable screenwash that has a citrus aroma,
making the workplace a better place. To remove any stains that may occur use KromaStain 540, a very efficient stain
remover that will leave your screens looking new again, used regularly, 540 will prolong the life of your mesh.
